Multiple I-10 Closures, Detours in El Paso June 22-27

The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with the I-10 Widening West project in El Paso for Monday, June 22 through Saturday, June 27, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Phase 1
Monday, June 22 to Saturday, June 27 (as needed)
Daytime: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Nighttime: 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

  • Both directions of I-10 between Vinton and Resler: some lanes will close at times.
  • North and South Desert roads between Vinton and Resler: some lanes will close at times.
  • On and off ramps, plus U-turns, in both directions between Vinton and Resler: some lanes will close at times.

Crews will finish small remaining tasks.

Phase 2
Monday, June 22 to Saturday, June 27 (as needed)
Daytime: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Nighttime: 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

  • Both directions of I-10 between Anthony and Mesa: some lanes will close at times.
  • North and South Desert roads between Anthony and Mesa: some lanes will close at times.

Crews will lay new concrete and move paving trucks across the median onto the highway.

Ongoing 24/7 Closures Until Further Notice

  • The full U-turn underpass at Bridge C (between Anthony and Vinton) is closed.
    Detour: North Desert traffic should go to Anthony and use the U-turn bridge there. South Desert traffic should go to Vinton and use the U-turn bridge there.
    Crews are tearing down and rebuilding the U-turn bridges under I-10 at Bridge C.
  • South Desert between Valley Chile and Vinton Steel: the left lane is closed.
    Detour: Traffic stays in one lane, can enter at Valley Chile, then continues in one lane past Bridge D at Vinton Steel.
    Crews are working on bridge demolition and construction.
  • North and South Desert at the Los Mochis intersection: the left lane is closed.
    Crews are working on the intersection.
  • South Desert between Transmountain and Isela Rubalcalva: the right lane is closed.
  • North Desert between Transmountain and Isela Rubalcalva: the left lane is closed.
    Crews are reconfiguring the roadway on South Desert.

Monday, June 22 to Saturday, June 27 (as needed)
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Bypass lanes on both directions of I-10 between Mesa and Redd: fully closed.
    Detour: Traffic stays on North Desert, goes through the Thorn intersection, and gets back on I-10 before Redd.
    Crews are finishing fences and landscaping at Thorn.
  • Westbound I-10 exit ramp at Redd (Ramp 10): fully closed.
    Detour: Exit at Mesa instead, then follow North Desert through Mesa and Thorn.
    Crews are fixing road striping.

Tuesday, June 16
11:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. (night only)

  • South Desert between Antonio Street and Valley Chile: fully closed.
    Crews are resetting a concrete barrier in the right lane at Valley Chile.
