The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has completed a project repairing 10 miles of worn I-10 pavement and making other upgrades between Tonopah and Salome Road west of the Phoenix area.

The $19 million project, which began in March, milled the highway surface and replaced it with new pavement between mile markers 80-90, a stretch that begins about 20 miles west of State Route 85. The project also added drainage, replaced guardrails, signage and fencing, and repaired a bridge and box culverts.

To minimize delays for drivers, ADOT only scheduled work on weekdays. While ADOT estimated the project would take 11 months to complete, crews were able to finish the work two months earlier than expected.

This project supports ADOT’s commitment to protecting Arizona’s investment in highway pavement and bridges and to maintaining I-10 as a key corridor for commercial and personal travel.
