If you’re celebrating the end of summer with a road trip this Labor Day weekend, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has some travel forecasts to help you make plans.
Travelers on I-10 can anticipate significant delays throughout the day on Friday, with congestion expected from El Paso to San Antonio, Houston and Beaumont. The morning rush is forecast from 7:00 a.m. to noon, with a second wave of heavy traffic from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Drivers can expect Saturday, August 30 to have moderate traffic throughout the day with heavy congestion from 11:00 a.m. tp 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 31, drivers can expect light traffic for most of the day.
Expect Monday, September 1 to have moderate traffic throughout the day with heavy congestion from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
TxDOT advises motorists to plan ahead, avoid peak congestion hours when possible, and always drive like a Texan: kind, courteous and safe. And if you’re celebrating with alcohol, always get a sober ride.
