The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with the I-10 Widening West project in El Paso for Monday, June 29 through Friday, July 3, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Phase 1
Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3 (as needed)
Daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Workers will close lanes one at a time on I-10 eastbound and westbound, on North and South Desert Road, and on the ramps and U-turns between Los Mochis and Mesa. This work supports ongoing construction.

Phase 2
Monday, June 29 to Saturday, July 4 (as needed)
Daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Workers will close lanes one at a time on I-10 eastbound and westbound and on North and South Desert Road between Anthony and Mesa. No detour is required. They will also pour new concrete and move paving trucks across the highway.

Additional daytime closures from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

  • I-10 westbound bypass lanes between Mesa and Redd will close fully. Drivers should stay on North Desert Road, go through the Thorn intersection, and rejoin I-10 before Redd.
  • I-10 eastbound bypass lanes between Redd and Mesa will close fully. Drivers should stay on South Desert Road, go through the Thorn intersection, and rejoin I-10 before Mesa.
  • The I-10 westbound exit at Redd (Exit 10) will close fully. Drivers should exit at Mesa, follow North Desert Road through the Mesa and Thorn intersections, then continue.

Ongoing 24/7 closures until further notice:

  • The full U-turn underpass at Bridge C between Anthony and Vinton is closed. North Desert traffic should go to Anthony and use the U-turn bridge there. South Desert traffic should go to Vinton and use the U-turn bridge there.
  • The left lane on South Desert Road between Valley Chile and Vinton Steel is closed. Traffic will stay in one lane with access to the Valley Chile entrance ramp until past Bridge D at Vinton Steel.
  • The left lane on North and South Desert Road at the Los Mochis intersection is closed.
  • The right lane on South Desert Road between Transmountain and Isela Rubalcalva is closed.
  • The left lane on North Desert Road between Transmountain and Isela Rubalcalva is closed.

These changes support bridge work, road changes, and fence and landscaping improvements.
