The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) reports that motorists traveling in Baldwin County should plan ahead with CR-87 closed at I-10 for bridge work. A temporary detour is in place around the closure.
As part of the Alabama Department of Transportationโs I-10 resurfacing project from Wilcox Road to the Florida state line, CR-87 is closed at I-10 for approximately three to four weeks. The closure began July 13 and will allow crews to raise the bridge over I-10 and rebuild the bridge approaches.
What motorists need to know
- Closure:ย CR-87 at I-10 is closed for approximately 3-4 weeks beginning July 13, 2026.
- Why itโs needed:ย Crews will raise the bridge over I-10 and rebuild the roadway approaches to improve the crossing.
- Detour route:ย Drivers should follow posted detour signs using:
- Taylor Still Road
- Cowpen Creek Road
- Patterson Road
- Wilcox Road (CR-64)
- Linholm Road
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution when traveling through the area.
