I-10 Closures, Traffic Delays in El Paso Thru December

El Paso, Texas I-10 Traffic | I-10 Construction | I-10 Exit Guide

The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with the I-10 Widening West construction project in El Paso, through December 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Construction Schedule

  • Monday, December 15 to Saturday, December 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    There will be alternating lane closures on North and South Desert between Vinton and Thorn for electrical work and other construction.
  • Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    I-10 east- and westbound lanes between Los Mochis and Artcraft will have the left lane closed for power washing and painting the median.

Long-Term Closures

  • From Monday, June 9, 2025, through the end of December 2025
    South Desert will be reduced to one lane between Transmountain and Isela Rubalcava. The West-to-East turnaround at Transmountain will also be closed, with traffic directed through the intersection. Crews are working on road configuration.

Additional Work

  • Monday, December 15 to Saturday, December 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    Alternating lane closures on I-10 east- and westbound and North and South Desert between Anthony and Nashua for concrete placement and material delivery.

Ongoing Closure

  • Until Spring 2026: Valley Chile Road Turnaround is closed. Detours for southbound and northbound traffic are provided. South Desert between Valley Chile and Vinton Steel has the left lane closed. Retaining wall and bridge widening work at Valley Chile is underway.
