The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) reports that crews continue to make headway on a major project to widen I-10 from four to six lanes from Diamondhead to County Farm Rd. in Harrison and Hancock counties. The scope of work also includes technological upgrades and the construction of a multi-use path and a noise barrier wall near the Diamondhead exit.
Widening work is complete on all three bridges within the project limits, and the noise barrier wall near the Diamondhead exit is also complete. The last lift of pavement is being applied via night work in the westbound and eastbound lanes. The median has been grassed and cable barrier installation is complete. On the multi-use path in Diamondhead, paving is underway and three of four pedestrian bridges have been installed. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) work is ongoing, which includes the addition of traffic monitoring cameras and digital message signs.
The $155 million project is expected to be completed in 2027.
